Leadership Transition and PATHCON ADHYAY 3.0
CME Held in Jammu
Jammu, April 30: A dignified ceremony marking a leadership transition and academic advancement in laboratory medicine was held at Government Medical College (GMC), Jammu, in conjunction with PATHCON ADHYAY 3.0 CME.
The charge of Chairperson of the J&K; Chapter of the Indian Association of Pathologists and Microbiologists (IAPM) was formally handed over to Dr. Yudhvir Gupta, Retired Professor and Head, Department of Pathology, Government Medical College, Jammu, by the outgoing Chairperson Dr. Kuldeep Singh, Retired Principal, Government Medical College, Rajouri, presently serving as Professor and Head, Department of Pathology at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Institute of Medical Excellence (SMVDIME), and Dean, Academics and Research at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University, under the stewardship of Dr. Jyotsna Suri Gandotra, Secretary, JKIAPM and Head, Department of Pathology, GMC Jammu, along with Dr. Ishani Gupta, Treasurer, JKIAPM.
The ceremony was attended by eminent pathologists including Dr. A.R. Khan, Dr. Arvind Khajuria, Dr K cC Goswami ; Dr Ruchi Goswami ; Dr. K.K. Koul, Dr. Subhash Bhardwaj, Dr. Jyotsna Suri Gandotra, Dr. Sindhu Sharma, Dr. Rupali Bargotra, Dr. Deepa Hans, Dr. Deepti Mahajan; Dr Ameet Kour ; Dr Rajat Gupta ; Dr Poonam Sharma ; Dr. Shifali Sarangal, and other senior pathologists along with members of the IAPM J&K; Chapter and faculty from various medical institutions.
The events were attended by Senior and Junior Residents of Pathology as well as other disciplines along with Laboratory Technicians of Department of Pathology . The program specifically aimed at improve skills so as to provide better diagnostic reports to the patients
Retired senior laboratory technicians were felicitated on the occasion. The programme also featured the launch of the official website of the IAPM J&K; Chapter (www.iapmjk.in), aimed at strengthening academic communication and digital outreach.
Earlier in the day, the CME, themed “Refining Techniques Towards Excellence in Pathology,” was conducted under the able leadership of Dr. Jyotsna Suri Gandotra, Professor and Head (HOD), Department of Pathology, Government Medical College, Jammu.
The one-day CME featured expert lectures by Dr. Jyotsna Suri Dr. Rupali Bhargotra, Dr. Sindhu Sharma, and Dr. Deepti Gupta, Dr Bharti Thaker along with valuable technical inputs from Mr. Fayaz, Mr. Rameez, Ms. Archna, and Mr. Sunny Bhat.The CME was also attended by Dr Meena Sidhu HOD Department of Blood Transfusion; Dr Sandhya Arora HOD Department of Forensic Medicine and Dr Ashima Badyal Associate professor Department of Biochemistry.
A highlight of the CME was a postgraduate quiz organized by Dr. Rajat Gupta and Dr. Anu Gupta, with participation from GMC Jammu, GMC Kathua, AIIMS Vijaypur, and SKIMS Medical College Hospital, Bemina, Srinagar. The GMC Jammu team secured first position, followed by AIIMS Vijaypur.
The occasion was also marked by distribution of prizes to Undergraduates MBBS students Poster making competition organised by Department of Pathology on the eve of National Pathology Day .
The CME sessions focused on pre-analytical, analytical, and post-analytical aspects of laboratory practice, including troubleshooting in histopathology, cytopathology, and hematopathology, with emphasis on improving diagnostic accuracy and patient care.
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from faculty members, residents, and laboratory professionals across the Union Territory, reflecting a collective commitment towards advancing the field of pathology.
